What Mama couldn't Teach us About Love

(1) No matter what I do, it won't make a difference: As slaves, they had no future or nothing to look foward to. Everyday they were abused and no matter how hard they tried, if they didn't meet expectations, they were brutally beaten. It is crazy that slaves were not able to express emotions, which made them act out and/or find different avenues to let it out. I feel like this remains with us today as to why some blacks are stuck in the mindset that they can't and are not able to progress.

(2) My body is not my own: As slaves women were used to breed children. They didn't have the privelage to be able to choose to bear kids and were most of the time, forced to have sex or even raped. I feel like this is one of the reasons, today's black women lack respect for themselves and engage in sexual activity earlier than any other race. Being forced to breed, left many slave with horrible views of how they handle relationships. Now alot of women, turn to using their bodies to attract lovers.
